Recto of mount: [printed:] "CRADDOCK MANSION HOUSE" Ship Street, Medford, Mass. Built in 1634. THE OLDEST BUILDING IN THE UNITED STATES RETAINING ITS ORIGINAL FORM. Matthew Craddock was first Governor of the Colony of Massachusetts Bay. Chosen May 13th 1629. "Mr. Craddock was more forward in advancing out his substance than any other, being generally the highest in all subscriptions. He was an eminent merchant in London, and continued divers years to carry on trade in the Colony, by his servants." - Hutchinson's History of Mass.
