Description

Pair of cups and saucers, cup with brown lithograph (?) transfer of woman in pink dress in profile drinking tea and motto "The Best of men/Are Only/Men at the Best" within cartouche suspending teacup, 6 geometric border at handle and rim, brown rim., band of geometric decoration at rim interior and on handle; saucers have same decorative band at rim with 9 suspended teacups and scroll decoration at cup in well.

Printed mark: ROYAL DOULTON/ENGLAND surrounding 4 interlocking D's with lion standing on crown above, in black; painted mark 6 on cups, D2779 on saucers; 1 saucer has 4 over 1 handpainted, the other has handpainted 3 and printed M.
