"RARE OLD PAINTING / on GLASS. / These were very common in the / early nineteenth century and / the good ones were generally framed / as this one in a brass frame. The / print from which it was taken was / made in 1800 which is probably / when the picture was made. It is / a sort of transfer process painting / a print on glass. Then almost / scraping it off and then adding / paint to the back. / There were four of these all of / biblical subjects in the old / Duncan House in Haverhill. / This one probably the best came to / my mother and after death / I took it.
