Knitting needle shealth and needle. Embroidered striped cotton twill cut in the shape of a hand and bound all around with buttonhole stitch in green silk. Has steel knitting needle inserted into sheath and also a calling card of "Mrs. Statie A. Jones."

"A knitting sheath, / probably one of a pair./ A wedding present to/ a bride about 250/ years/ ago./ Mrs. C. C. Jones" (In fact this is not one of a pair. These were used singly by pinning the sheath to the hip of one's gown and stabilizing the needle inserted in the sheath-Cataloguer's note)
