This small novelty item was most likely an advertising give-away meant to be tucked in a book or a pocket. The cast metal fan is nickel-plated copper or brass and engraved with the maker's name and location. It hangs from a link chain, which in turn, is attached to an elogated section of folded wire. The wire forms an elongated triange with a rounded point at the far end from the fan and chain.
