Description

Mah-Jongg box, wooden box [a] with sliding cover [b], dark brown finish. Box has decorative brass trim at corners and brass carrying handles. Five interior drawers with brass ring handles. The top four drawers each contain thirty-six rectagular shaped ivory and bamboo tiles decorated with orange, blue, and green symbols. The bottom drawer is divided into four slots. The first slot contains forty-four ivory sticks with red dots. The second slot contains thirty-six ivory sticks with ten black dots. The third slot contains thirty-nine ivory sticks with two black dots. The fourth slot contains: Four blank ivory and bamboo tiles; Ivory cylinder; Four small circular ivory discs with green Chinese characters; One large circular ivory disc with green Chinese character; Small wooden box with sliding lid containing four ivory dice. The front of the box cover [b] is engraved with two Chinese characters.
