Description

A partial list of the items carried in the Dollar Store is on the card verso. The text below the image reads "The Boston Coliseum, 1872." The World Peace Jubilee and International Music Festival was held in Boston in 1872 to commemorate the end of the Franco-Prussian War. The Boston Coliseum, which housed the event, was designed by William Preston and intended to be a temporary structure. The event was organized by composer and bandmaster Patrick Gilmore.
