Small rectangular format, with foreground landscape and numerous vessels flying British, Dutch and American flags in the middle distance before a mountain landscape with two temples in the distant background. It has the original bevel-shaped profile frame with gilded inner molding.

In old handwriting in black pen on a blue paper adhered to the upper frame is: Whampoa with the vessels of different/nations trading to Canton. The same inscription, in pencil on a paper backing, on the canvas reverse. In the upper left of the frame back, in magic marker on masking tape is: 80. On a jelly label, in blue pen, on the central lower frame back is: Lent by/N.F. Little. In pen on the lower portion of the frame back is: Whampoa. In the upper right of the frame back, in charcoal, are some Chinese characters. In the upper right is a white circular sticker that reads: 77.
