Description

White tin glaze on buff colored clay body. Square. Cobalt-blue hand-painted decoration featuring biblical scenes, primarily from the life of Christ. 22 complete and three partial tiles in situ. Scenes include: 1) Jonah and the whale; 2) Christ preaching in the temple; 3) Christ carrying the cross; 4) Rebecca at the well; 5) Angel of the Lord w/ Abraham; 6) John the Baptist baptizing Christ; 7) Angel of the Lord w/ a walking peasant, plus two unidentified scenes.
