Square, tightly woven wood splint storage basket with square, checker weave cover. Basket body is made of alternating horizontal wide and thin weavers. Thin weavers are alternately swabbed blue and red. Wide weavers are stamped with dot-and-circle design. Alternating standards are swabbed yellow and stamped with stylized floral motif. The splint coloring and stamping pattern is present on both body and cover. The basket and cover interior was once lined with printed paper that notes "Mr. Calhoun" and his debates. Native American made.
