Chippendale style table. Rectangular top with 2 dropleaves and 2 supports for leaves in "butterfly wing" shape. Apron plain on long sides. A deep drawer opens on one short end, and opposite end is decorated with incised rectangles having hollow corners. Heavily constructed drawer with dovetailed front and back. Drawer slides on bottom of slides. No plane marks, light mark of vertical saw. Four moulded and beaded legs splayed from 15" at top to 17 3/4" wide at bottom. Single rectangular lateral stretcher, an unusual double swell turned stretcher between legs on the ends. Table top now stripped, while rest of table has remains of red paint. Underside of leaves has imitation grain painted in black on red. Heavy iron brackets are screwed on the ends of the underside of both leaves, possibly for connection of extensions.
