Highlights of the furniture collection: This exceedingly handsome walnut bonnet top high chest was made in Salem, Massachusetts, during the height of that town's cabinet-making production. The elaborate shaping of the skirt with a cut out quatrefoil in brackets are characteristic of Salem craftsmanship. This example has a history of belonging to the family of Deacon John Stone of the First Church, Salem.
