Portrait of a woman, traditionally believed to be Mrs. Spofford of Haverhill, Massachusetts. Sitter has dark brown hair and brown eyes. She is wearing a black dress with white lace frill collar with scalloped edges. A gold chain with square pendant is draped over the top edge of the lace collar. The sitter was possibly the wife of Paul Spofford born in Georgetown, Massachusetts, and later moved to New York. Dark painted gold frame.
