Rectangular, vertical format map of Sandy Bay Pier, Rockport, Mass. showing wharves with inner harbor and large house with four chimneys, outbuildings and other small structures in forground. This drawing represents the small basin immediately to the west side of the present Bearskin Neck. Remains of the piers represented are still intact. The large house still stands unchanged on the main street to the west of the entrance to Bearskin Neck. Babcon's HISTORY OF GLOCESTER, p. 544: "It was not til 1811 that the people of Sandy Bay felt themselves able to construct an articial harbor. In that year they erected the breakwater on the north west side of Bearskin Neck, and in 1819, a wharf opposite the two structures forming a small but safe harbor."
