Description

Soumak carpet. Effect is of "braided" wefts. 3 rows red-covered warps finish sides. Fringe finishes ends--it is made of knotted warps and includes some braids. Center has 9 diamond-shaped medallions w/ 8-pointed stars and latchhooks. 2 borders (sm.) then border of same motifs, surrounded by one more border then red warps at edge. Blue, navy blue, rust red, brown, black.
