The matching petticoat is made from cream-colored watered silk taffeta and may be original to the gown. The petticoat is made from two selvedge widths of railroaded sillk gathered into a waistband that closes with a hook and eye. Both skirt and petticoat were stiffened with later additions of nylon buckram to the inner hem.
