Photographs here are identified mostly with first names and family relationships. An inscription in the front of the album reads "Constance Winsor, Christmas 1873, from Papa." Papa is Justin Winsor, the historian. Photographers here are from New York, Delaware and Massachusetts. The Massachusetts photographers represented in the album are H.G. Smith, Silsbee, Case & Co., Metcalf & Welldon, and Allen & Rowell from Boston; Knowlton Bros. from Northampton; and Locke's Gallery from Plymouth. Of interest is a carte de visite of Tom Thumb and his wife Lavinia Warren Stratton.
