Description

Carte de visite album identified on the title page as "A Book of Photographs." It was published by J.E. Tilton Co., Boston, in 1863. Most of these are identified, some with family relationships. There are some unusually nice photos of parents with children and three young men in Civil War uniform. Families represented are Winsor, Barker, Tobey, Howland, Stetson and Frothingham. A faint note on the inside cover says "Winsor, Nov '63." It's probable that this was an album owned by the Winsor family.

Boston photographers are Silsbee, Case & Co. and John Adams Whipple.
