Clock Face

Description

Painted black clock face on a cream background with gilded decorative scrollwork and symmetrical decoration around the numerals. It shows an eagle motif on the half circle top. The Roman numerals have a gilded scalloped edge accented by tiny raised dots. There are small dials in the center for the seconds and days of the month, as well as, three holes in the face for hand movement. It has a raised gilded decoration in four corners and continues onto the half circle top. The eagle uptop has a yellow banner in its beak and under the bird are three tiny red houses painted on a green grassy knoll. There are two sunburst gilded and black decorations on the face along with marks on the back that suggest an error in the making. Two cleats are routed onto the unpainted back. [see photo neg#47587-A]
