ca. 1900

This album is one of snapshots. It is small and simply made with plain black paper. It includes photos of houses, gardens and streets, along with portraits. Its tone is entirely more informal; these photographs were probably taken by non-professional photographers, such as family members and friends. Families represented here are Thacher, Siffler, Holbrook and Barry. The last photo in the book is of a large black dog standing on a boat. All portraits are identified, but some only with first names. Places pictured include Rockport, Lands End and Little Deer Isle. There are also cottages, islands, and identified streets, but many other places are only identified as "the garden," etc. None of the photographs are dated, but these were likely taken in the early twentieth century.
