Woven leaf fan with handle from Hawaii. Traditional weaving techniques were used to create the spade shaped fan. The woven leaf strips are all of a similar width. The word "ALOHA" has been woven into the fan with a narrow red-brown plant fiber. Fans like this were widely available in Hawaii for the tourist market.
