Description

Pasteboard bandbox (A) with lid (B). Border wallpaper, flocked and block-printed in two different patterns: outside: pink and white primroses with green leaves and stems, brown ground color; rim: same green shade of spiral borders. Box top border: covered in turquoise paper. Inside: 3/4 covered in white/gray floral design, lion's head, repeating pattern, bouquet of blue flowers on maroon ground. 1/4 of inside covered in same material as outer box. Bottom inside: lithograph of dancing woman. Newspaper lining box underside, June 1845; lid lined in same turquoise paper.
