Grand staircase, La Leopolda, 1929

Description

A view of the grand staricase of La Leopolda in Villefranche-sur-Mer, France. The perspective is through the gates and from the bottom of the stairs up to toward the villa. Cypress trees line the stairs and decorative urns and pots adorn the railings. Unidentified people pose along the view. The caption reads, "Looking up towards the Villa." Created in 1902 by Leopold II, king of the Belgians, Ogden Codman, Jr. purchased the property in 1929.
