1890-1926
GUSN-272886
This subseries includes the majority of Cook's correspondence. Before acquisition by the Society for the Preservation of New England Antiquities (now Historic New England), the collection had undergone extensive reorganization. Only one box of 1908 correspondence retained Cook's original filing system. This box, labeled "April-June 1908," included alphabetical subdivisions. Operating on the assumption that all of Cook's correspondence was originally filed this way, the processor instituted a chronological filing order in which each year is divided alphabetically. A small number of exceptions were made where it was clear that Cook had created separate files for specific commissions or correspondents. These exceptions are filed at the end of the alphabetical order for each year.
