Description

The cloth-bound album is inscribed to William Samuel Eliot "from his Grandma on his Birthday, March 16, 1862 A.D." It contains 25 cartes-de-visite portraits including three of Samuel Eliot; also Mrs. Samuel Eliot, Mrs. William Eliot, Emily Marshall Eliot (pictured as a young girl with her dog "Bounce," later mother of noted historian Samuel Eliot Morison), Margaret, Amory, and many of children. The portraits are identified in ink in the hand of Samuel Eliot Morison. The costumes of the children are of particular interest.
