Description

Heavy leather-bound album of 44 cabinet photographs. Appear to have belonged to Silas Parsons Cook, a minister in Swanzey New Hampshire. Related family names are Parsons and MacNeil. All portraits, men, women and children. With one group photograph, probably dating late 19th century. Only a few have been identified. Dates on many appear to be incorrect; they are much too early for the style of photography.
Album has a beautiful floral decorated title page. A good study album for style of album, presentation, costume of sitters, props, and background used for sitters. Note in particular the one with the woman leaning against a tree stump with floral vines and a background of trees. Many sitters are wearing or holding fresh flowers.
Photographers include:
Pach, New York City
J.H. Folsom, Danbury, Connecticut
Bushby, Temple Place, Boston ( firm was in business from 1880-1889)
Camp, Jamestown, NY
C.L. Howe & Son, Brattleboro, VT
D. Wyatt, Brattleboro, VT
Theo Endean, Cleveland, Ohio
