Description

A round silver medal awarded to J. F. Bumstead & Co. by the Massachusetts Mechanical Association for paper hanging in 1856. This cast medal is decorated on both sides. On one side is the motto and emblems of the Mechanical Association with an engraved inscription. On the verso is the cast design of a woman in classical dress with a small shield labeled "industry," seated. The medal is kept in its original bi-fold leather case, lined in mauve cut velvet.
