Description

Fragment of wallpaper with a Scenic Figure pattern. C-scrolls form medallions framing four grouped scenes, two large and two small. The upper left scene depicts an old man, leaning against a building, with a child on his lap. The upper right scene depicts goats drinking at a body of water. Lower left scene depicts a ships on a body of water with a cityscape in the background. Lower right scene depicts a pastoral setting in which a standing woman hands coins (perhaps a toll) to a seated man. The sky in the large scenes and the water in the small scenes are treated with a rainbow ground. Block-printed in orange, blue, two greens, two pinks, tan and three browns on gray ground.
