Oneida

Description

Oneida ex-Utowana was a steam yacht built by John Roach in Chester, PA in 1883. Owned for many years by E. C. Benedict of New York. Renamed Adelante in 1913 when Benedict renamed another yacht Oneida. Taken over by U.S. Navy between 1918 and 1919. Sold in 1920 and became a commerical tow boat under the names of ohn Gully and Salvager. Abandoned in 1941. LOA 138ft. LWL 121-6ft. Beam 20-6ft.

This photo was taken on the day of the annual regatta of the Eastern Yacht Club.
