Description

Wallpaper fragment from the Hayes House, Barnstable, Massachusetts with floral stripe pattern. Small, stylized flowers with horizontal sprays of leaves repeat to form vertical stripes in alternating colors. Block-printed in yellow and pale red on blue ground. The yellow block print overlaps the pale red in several areas. Paper is handmade, partial sheets. It is backed with a plain paper and a partial sheet of printed paper. Several small fragments of a second wallpaper, printed with an orange floral patternon blue ground, are affixed on top and behind this paper. A large fragment of the second wallpaper was also collected, see 2001.281.108.
