Description

Inscribed on the first page "To Peter, With Love from Mother, February, 1953," this black, embossed scrapbook contains sixteen copies of etchings depicting notable Massachusetts landmarks accompanied by descriptive material on the opposite page. The etchings themselves are somewhat quaint in character as they include people, traffic and weather conditions. The descriptive paragraphs for each building include interesting historical information highlighting their significance. Most of the etchings are by W. Harry Smith and most are depictions of well-known Boston buildings such as Ye Old Oyster House, Faneuil Hall, and several famous churches. Beyond Boston, buildings in Concord, Sudbury and Salem are included; also Washington National Cathedral and Cathedral of Notre Dame, Paris. The publisher of the etchings is unknown.
