Description

This box contains a brooch, 2006.44.31.1, but it was most likely not the original container for the brooch. The box is composed of a base and hinged lid, covered in purple velvet. The interior base is covered in black velvet, formed with slits and depressions to hold a piece of jewelry. The lid interior is covered in satin that is stamped in gold with the name and address of a well-known Paris jeweler.
