Description

Three fragments of stairhall wallpaper from Newburyport, Massachusetts. Octagon and square coffer pattern block-printed in blue on rainbow ground. The octagons and squares frame foliate medallion figures block-printed in alternating rows of orange and brown. The rainbow ground is yellow, blue and cream with the orange medallions printed over yellow ground areas and the brown medallions over the cream ground areas. Wove paper, partial sheets.
