Description

Unused scenery figure wallpaper fragment from Middleton, Massachusetts. Medallion figure frames a pastoral scene of a male traveler resting against his bedroll and a tree trunk with a walking stick in one hand. A woman carrying a child on her back stands nearby.The medallion, block-printed in two grays, is adorned with rose festoons and is flanked on both sides by similarly stylized stripes. The flowers and medallion scene are block-printed in red, three pinks, four greens, blue-green, four browns, two tans, three purples, and two blues. The scene has a blue and yellow irisé background and the paper a white polished ground.
