Three fragments of striped wallpaper from North Eastham, Massachusetts. Blue stripes with blue dots applied over orange ground. Stripes of orange ground are printed with white dots. Wove paper, partial sheets.

"... a sample of the old paper I found in the downstairs front bedroom... The old was applied directly on a skim coat of something like plaster on the wide vertical exterior side boards of my three-quarter, bow-roof house here in Eastham. To find this paper, I removed many other layers of wallpaper, then plaster and lath -- in that order..." (Excerpt from letter from Mrs. Mace to Dorothy Waterhouse)
