Description

Fragment of French scenery figure wallpaper from Salem, Massachusetts. Gray cartouche figure with violet and red roses frames a scene of a masted boat on a waterway surrounded by buildings with mountains in the background. The scene is block-printed in two grays, ochre, red, and dark brown over a rainbow background of blue, pink and green. The rest of the pattern is block-printed in gray, two reds, pink, two purples and green on a polished off-white ground.
