Two fragments of striped wallpaper from Sandwich, Massachusetts. A seaweed figure stripe alternates with an abstract stripe in this pattern. Block-printed in white, red, green and tan on gray ground. Green color is used at the paper or pattern edges and tan color is used in the paper or pattern center, creating color, as well as pattern, striping.
