Description

Floral trail and stripe wallpaper from the Captain John Kendrick House, Wareham, Massachusetts. First layer of paper from the north room on the second floor, removed during mid-1970s restoration. A black floral vine with gray-green blooms undulates across regularly placed floral stripes. The floral stripes alternate from black stems with white flowers to white stems with black flowers. The gray-green of the flowers appears to be stenciled on the pink ground with the rest of the pattern block-printed over both in white and black . Laid paper, partial sheets. English excise tax stamp on verso (Fragment H).
