This series includes forty-four letters written to his sons Captain Joseph Tucker (31 items) and Captain Richard H. Tucker, Jr. (13 items) between 1843 and 1859. This correspondence took place while the Tucker brothers were either at sea or stationed in Charleston, South Carolina, where the family had business interests. Richard Tucker, Sr., writes from Wiscasset and are rich with news about the family's shipping business.
