Description

Fragment of flocked border depicting naturalistic oak leaves and acorns wrapping around a horizontal rod, itself wrapped with string of beads. Faux-varnished wood background. The oak leaves and acorns are flocked in green and block-printed in black, three greens, and orange. The rod and faux wood areas are block-printed in four browns and two ochres on a light cream ground. The ground is striped with a slightly darker cream color, giving the paper an uneven rib texture which, in the faux wood area, looks like wood graining. The ground color is only visible in areas where the outline of the leaves has only been partially trimmed. The faux wood areas are glazed.
