Description

Five unused samples of reproduction wallpaper in the "French Tassel" pattern by Waterhouse Wallhangings, Inc. Pattern has a central motif of a rose-filled basket with adjacent leaf and flower sprays on either side. The basket is printed over two garlands, one of which curves upward; the other curves downward in two pieces with a central drop. Flanking the basket and swags is a vertical rope and tassel motif. The rope and tassel motif is bordered at the outer edge by a wide vertical stripe of leaves printed on a diamond and pindot background. Wallpaper is a reproduction of a French block-printed wallpaper dating from 1810-1825 that was found in the Carter Homestead in Lancaster, MA. Five colorways are present: 2001.281.742.1 -- Green, two pinks and white on a blue ground (# 123437); 2001.281.742.2 -- Green, two pinks and white on a pale blue ground (# 123484);
