Description

A black and white view of August Belmont and the other Cape Cod Canal project executives inspecting the canal. The image shows many men talking amongst themselves on benches and a few looking over the edge of the scow.

From Images of America: Cape Cod Canal, pg. 60: "In June 1913, August Belmont and the other directors of the Cape Cod Construction Company passed through the railroad drawbridge on an inspection tour of the canal, now nearing completion. August Belmont (second from right) and the other guests then traveled to the middle of the canal where the dredge Federal was at work. They boarded a scow fitted with benches and listened as William Parsons (far right) explained the progress at each stop."
