Description

Small fragment of damask-patterned wallpaper. The wallpaper was chosen by John Quincy Adams for use in the formal sitting room of the "Old House," part of the Adams National Historical Park, Quincy, Massachusetts. The paper has a dense floral swag and foliate scrolls pattern with hanging cord and tassel figures. Block-printed in yellow and peach on ungrounded ochre paper. The wallpaper is an American adaptation of a Jean-Baptiste Reveillon design. The pattern was reproduced in the 1970s by Waterhouse Wallhangings as "Vassal Adams House."
