Description

Fragment of a roll of uncut wallpaper border corners from Lexington, Massachusetts. The paper is printed with one large corner per width of the roll. Three complete corners are present. The corners depict pink and cream roses and their foliage with intermingling gray ribbon against a white background. The corners are block-printed in white, three grays, five greens, peach, red, four pinks, two shades of cream, tan and brown on white ground. French.

Her grandfather was early clock maker in Newburyport - / French Beautiful expensive gold leaf papers - / Given me by Miss Anna Muzzey / 14 Glen Road / Lexington 73 - Mass--- / Her father in 1840's (?) heard that beautiful w. p. were ? arriving on a ship in Boston - from France - + he bought / the entire lot. He was a merchant in Boston - / The elaborate corner borders are from Miss Muzzey" (Last line added later in felt tip marker.)
