Description

One large fragment and two small pieces of a scenic wallpaper frieze. Unlike scenic panels, the design on this roll is printed on the horizontal rather than vertical. Scene depicts a pastoral landscape with old mill will waterwheel to the left and a large estate house to the right. In the foreground, genteelly dressed lady and gentleman ride horseback with hunting dogs. Block-printed in seven greens, five blues, seven browns, two grays, white, two tans, purple, two dusty roses. The lower half of the scene appears to have a dark blue ground, the upper half, or sky, of the scene has an irise ground of peach fading to light blue.
