Description

Partial panel of an unidentified scenic wallpaper. Early nineteenth-century waterfront market scene of men, probably sailors, and women socializing and examining merchandise. A woman kneels to examine fruit. Large ceramic jugs, two large anchors and a canon are nearby. Sailing vessels at anchor and a cityscape are visible in the background. Block-printed in white and seven shades of gray on gray ground.
