Rolled fragment of four intact layers of wallpaper from Hingham, Massachusetts. Earliest layer (2001.281.1122.1) is not clearly visible. It is a floral pattern, possibly a floral medallion, block-printed in yellow, orange and pink on blue ground. Date: 1810-1820. Layer 2 (2001.281.1122.2) is a gray marble wallpaper with coffers divided by stylized foliate vine. Block-printed in gray and white on gray ground. Date: 1820-1830. Layer three (2001.281.1122.3) is a blue and white marble and masonry wallpaper. Roller-printed in blue, white, black and brown on ungrounded paper. Date: 1840-1850. The fourth layer (2001.281.1122.4) is a diamond tile pattern roller printed in gray, white, yellow, brown and taupe on ungrounded paper. Date: 1870-1880.
