Leather-hinged, wooden box lid covered with wallpaper. The lid has fragments of a leather hinge held on with metal tacks along on side and a small leather flap, or handle, held with two tacks on the top to aid in lifting the lid from the box. The wallpaper covering the lid is block-printed in blue with a delicate sprig pattern on ungrounded paper. The same sprig pattern, printed in white on blue paper, is found in a small chest in the Historic New England collection, see 2001.281.553. The pattern was reproduced by Waterhouse Wallhangings with the name "Treasure Chest," see 2001.281.773.1-.4.
