Subseries A, Correspondence, 1825-1877, undated, contains both business and personal correspondence received by Edward Henry Little. Business correspondence includes letters received between 1861 and 1863 (including one letter dated 1861 with the comment "war, war, the war cry fills the air"), letters received in 1871, 1872, between 1873 and 1877, letters received from the Newburyport Committee in 1809 and his appointment as an agent of the MSPCA. Some letters in the business correspondence are undated. Personal correspondence includes letters received between 1854 and 1871 (including letters from a soldier in New Orleans dated 1860 and 1863). Personal correspondence also includes a letter to his cousin Mary Little, dated 1825. The subseries is arranged according to type of correspondence (business or personal) and chronologically thereafter.
