Subseries D, Legal, 1806-1879, contains the following deeds: land deeds--John Noyes (1769, 1770); deed from Offin Boardman to John Pettingal of Newbury land/farm (1813); deeds to Newbury land (1806, 1860s, 1870s); sales of salt marsh to Sarah Pierce Sr. (1833); deed for land sold to Harriet Lyford (1867); and a deed for petition of land 1879. These documents also include Edward Henry Little's appointment as bankruptcy assignee (1855, 1873, 1874), and insurance papers for S. Towle and P. Faerty (1851, 1865). The subseries is arranged alphabetically according to document type and chronologically thereafter.
